Yes. CoverSure’s Insurance Portfolio lets you add health, life, term, motor, travel, and other policies from any insurer in India into one dashboard, for yourself and your family. You can upload policy PDFs or enter details, and the app organises policies by type and surfaces the numbers that matter: sum insured, premium, renewal date, nominee and key benefits. On top of tracking, CoverSure adds renewal reminders, plain-English policy breakdowns (Know Your Policy), coverage-gap checks (CoverRisk Calculator and Policy Health Check), discovery of free insurance on your credit and debit cards, policy sharing with family, and emergency help (Insurance SOS). CoverSure is operated by Claycove23 Insurance Tech Pvt. Ltd., an IRDAI-registered Corporate Agent (Composite), Reg. No. CA0894. |
The Sunday scavenger hunt nobody signs up for
It usually starts with a harmless question from a family member: “Is Papa’s health policy still active?”
What follows is a scavenger hunt. You search your inbox for “policy schedule”, find three emails from 2021, one password-protected PDF whose password is “your date of birth in some format nobody remembers”, a motor policy in the car’s glovebox, a term plan certificate in a steel almirah, and a corporate health e-card on an HR portal you can no longer log into because you switched jobs.
Forty minutes later, you still don’t know the answer.
That is not a you problem. It is a structural problem. The average Indian household holds insurance bought at different times, from different insurers, through different channels (agent, bank, employer, app, card issuer), each with its own format, login, and renewal cycle. The policies exist. The visibility doesn’t.
So, can CoverSure track all of it in one place? Short answer: yes. Long answer: yes, and it does a few things beyond tracking that are worth knowing about. Let’s walk through it.
Why tracking insurance manually fails (and what it costs)
|
Pain point |
What it looks like |
What it can cost you |
|---|---|---|
|
Scattered documents |
Email, WhatsApp, lockers, HR portals, insurer apps |
Delays at the hospital desk when you can’t find the policy number |
|
Missed renewals |
Premium due while you’re travelling or busy |
Loss of waiting-period credit and cumulative bonus if the grace period passes |
|
Invisible benefits |
Free cover on cards, health check-ups, OPD perks unused |
Paying for benefits you already own |
|
Family blind spots |
Only one person knows where the policies are |
Dependents struggle to claim in an emergency |
|
Unknown gaps |
No idea if cover is adequate |
Out-of-pocket bills when a large claim hits |
Two of these deserve a closer look.
Missed renewals are expensive. In health insurance, IRDAI rules allow a grace period for renewal (30 days for annual premium modes, shorter for instalments), and under the IRDAI Master Circular on Health Insurance Business (29 May 2024), coverage continues during that grace period. Miss it, and the policy lapses. That can wipe out years of waiting-period credit on pre-existing diseases and any cumulative bonus you have built. In motor insurance, a lapse of more than 90 days typically forfeits your No Claim Bonus.
Unknown gaps show up at the worst time. Per the IRDAI Annual Report 2024-25, as reported by independent analysts, individually bought retail health policies cover only about 10% of India’s health-insured lives, while employer group policies cover roughly 47%. Many people rely only on a job-linked cover that ends when the job does.
What exactly can you track on CoverSure?
CoverSure’s Insurance Portfolio is designed to hold all your policies, whichever insurer issued them:
- Health insurance: individual, family floater, senior citizen, super top-up, critical illness, and corporate or group covers
- Life insurance: term plans and other life policies
- Motor insurance: car and two-wheeler (and with Motor Club, the PUC, challan, and vehicle-care side too)
- Travel insurance: single-trip and multi-trip
- Other covers: home, personal accident and more
- Card-linked covers: the insurance quietly bundled with your credit and debit cards, surfaced through Insurance on Cards
And not just yours. You can track your spouse’s, children’s, and parents’ policies too, which is the entire point: in an emergency, the person who needs the policy details is rarely the person who bought the policy.
How does it work? Adding your policies, step by step
- Download the app and sign up with your mobile number. Get the CoverSure app here.
- Add a policy: upload the policy PDF or enter the key details yourself. Depending on what you’ve connected, the app may also help fetch policy documents digitally.
- Let the app read it: CoverSure extracts key fields such as insurer, policy type, sum insured, premium, start and renewal dates, members covered, and nominees.
- Organise and view: policies are grouped by type and member, with upcoming renewals flagged on your dashboard.
- Repeat for the family: add dependents’ policies to build one household view.

Tip: Since 2024, IRDAI has pushed insurers toward issuing policies in electronic form, so most recent policies arrive as PDFs in your inbox. That makes step 2 a two-minute job. (I am not fully certain of every detail of the current e-issuance mandate; please check irdai.gov.in for the latest.) |
Beyond tracking: what else happens once your policies are in
Tracking is the foundation. Here is what gets built on it.
1. Plain-English policy breakdowns
Once a policy is in, Know Your Policy decodes it: what’s covered, what’s excluded, waiting periods, room rent limits, co-pay, sub-limits, restoration, and bonus. Think of it as subtitles for a movie in a language nobody speaks.
2. A health score for your policy
The Policy Health Check tells you whether your health policy has the features that actually matter at claim time (no co-pay, no room rent cap, no disease-wise sub-limits, sensible PED waiting periods, consumables cover) and which riders you’re missing.
3. Are you covered enough?
The CoverRisk Calculator estimates your ideal cover using factors like age, city, AQI, BMI, lifestyle habits, family history, and pre-existing conditions, then compares it with what you have. Under-insured, over-insured, or just right: you’ll know.
4. Renewals without the drama
Reminders arrive before due dates, and Insurance Renewal lets you renew quickly. Your future self, who would otherwise be paying a lapsed-policy penalty in waiting periods, says thanks.
5. Free cover you forgot you had
Many credit and debit cards come with air accident, personal accident, purchase protection, or lost-card liability covers. Insurance on Cards shows what yours include. Our guide to types of insurance on credit cards explains the fine print.
6. Sharing with family
Policy sharing lets you give family members access to policy details, so nobody is left searching when it matters.
7. Help in an emergency
Insurance SOS supports you at the moment of need: finding network hospitals, emergency contacts, and vehicle help.
8. A human when you need one
Still unsure? Advisory connects you with unbiased experts who review your whole portfolio, not just the policy someone wants to sell.
Who is this for?
|
You are… |
Why a single portfolio helps |
|---|---|
|
A young professional with a corporate cover |
See the gap between job cover and personal cover before you switch jobs |
|
A parent managing a household |
One view of spouse, kids and parents’ policies and renewal dates |
|
Caring for ageing parents |
Their policy details are available to you when they need care |
|
A two-vehicle family |
Motor renewals, PUC and NCB in one place |
|
A credit card collector |
Know which card gives which cover before you travel |
Is my data safe?
A fair question for any app holding policy documents. CoverSure is operated by Claycove23 Insurance Tech Pvt. Ltd., an IRDAI-registered Corporate Agent (Composite), Reg. No. CA0894, and states that it uses encrypted data transmission and access-restricted storage. You can read the full privacy policy. (As with any app, review the permissions you grant.)
When should you set this up?
Honestly? Before you need it. The best time to organise policies is on a calm Tuesday, not in a hospital corridor at 2 a.m. The next best time is today. Good trigger moments: a new job, a marriage, a new baby, a new car, parents turning 60, or the next time someone asks, “Is that policy still active?” and nobody knows.
