| Ayushman Bharat Niramayam is Madhya Pradesh’s version of Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY, launched on 23 September 2018. It gives eligible families cashless treatment of up to ₹5 lakh per family per year at empanelled government and private hospitals. MP links eligibility to welfare programmes residents are already part of. Families identified under the SECC census, Samagra beneficiaries and families registered under the Mukhyamantri Jan Kalyan (Sambal) scheme for unorganised workers can all qualify. Registered building and construction workers also get ₹5 lakh through the Labour Department’s version of Niramaya. Seniors aged 70 and above are covered under the national Ayushman Vay Vandana card. You can check eligibility at ayushmanbharat.mp.gov.in or on the PM-JAY portal. Bring your Aadhaar and Samagra ID when getting your card. |
Niramayam in Madhya Pradesh: How Your Samagra ID and Sambal Card Unlock ₹5 Lakh of Health Cover
The card you already have might be your ticket
In Madhya Pradesh, many welfare benefits start with one number: your Samagra ID.
Niramayam, MP’s version of Ayushman Bharat, plugs into that same system. That means many families are already eligible for ₹5 lakh of cashless hospital cover without ever applying for a “health scheme”.
The catch is that you still need the card made, and your Samagra details need to be correct. Here’s how it all works.

What Niramayam covers
- ₹5 lakh per family per year, floater basis.
- Cashless treatment at empanelled government and private hospitals, paid on fixed packages.
- Follow-up care after discharge is included in packages.
- No premium.
- Linked to welfare IDs: SECC families, Samagra beneficiaries and Sambal-registered workers.

How to get your Ayushman card in MP
- Check eligibility at ayushmanbharat.mp.gov.in or the PM-JAY beneficiary portal.
- Carry Aadhaar and your Samagra ID. Sambal card holders should carry that too.
- Visit an empanelled hospital or CSC. They can generate your card after verification.
- Complete e-KYC and collect your card.
- Show the card at admission for cashless treatment.
Helplines: 1800-233-2085 (MP) and 14555 (national).

What to double-check
Your Samagra details must be right. If your Samagra family ID has wrong or missing members, card generation can stall. Fix it first.
It isn’t universal. You need to be in one of the identified groups: SECC, Samagra-linked beneficiaries, Sambal or registered construction workers. Many middle-income families won’t be.
Construction workers renew yearly. Registration with the building workers’ board must be renewed every year to stay eligible through that route.
Hospital stays only. Routine OPD isn’t covered.
Empanelled hospitals only. Confirm before planned treatment.

Niramayam vs a private health plan
What Niramayam does well
- ₹5 lakh free for a very wide group of welfare-linked families.
- Plugs into IDs people already have, like Samagra and Sambal.
- Government and private hospitals in the network.
- Follow-up care included in packages.
Where a private plan usually adds more
- Open to anyone, not just listed welfare groups.
- Higher sums insured beyond ₹5 lakh.
- Actual bills paid, subject to terms, not package rates.
- Room choice, restoration and cumulative bonus.
- Tax benefit under Section 80D in the old tax regime (please verify current limits).
When ₹5 lakh is shared by a big family
Meet the Ahirwars of Sagar (a hypothetical Sambal-registered family; numbers are illustrative). Seven people share one card.
| Event in the year (hypothetical) | Used from the ₹5 lakh |
|---|---|
| Grandfather’s prostate surgery | ₹1.2 lakh |
| Father’s injury at a construction site | ₹2.4 lakh |
| Mother’s hysterectomy | ₹90,000 |
| Left for the rest of the year | ₹50,000 |
And if the grandfather is over 70, a Vay Vandana card could give him separate cover, easing pressure on the family limit.
